Transitional Living Apartments kick off

WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- Three years of work came to an end Tuesday as a transitional living complex opens in Watertown.

The Neighbors of Watertown agency hosted a ceremony on Stone Street Tuesday afternoon to open the apartments.

The complex is named the Music Center Apartments. That's because a 200-year-old farm house and music school was one of the buildings converted. The other was the old Social Security building.

In all, the complex has 13 apartments designed for people who need help until they can get into a full time home.

"We have a constant call at our office for housing which I would call more emergency. People are going to be on the street. Either they're losing their current housing, they're victims of fire and burn out or they're just priced out," said Gary Beasley, Neighbors of Watertown Executive Director.

Neighbors of Watertown is working with the Credo Community Center for Addictions and the Children's Home of Jefferson County to lease the apartments.
